INDIGENOUS VINE

MUJURETULI

Mujuretuli is an aboriginal variety of red grape vine, spread in Racha region. Ivane Javakhishvili believed that, this variety must be originated in Imereti. The name must come from Mujireti. Mujireti is in Aragveti and the variety must be from there.

GRDZELMTEVANA

In the ampelography Grdzelmtevana (forest vine) is mentioned as the prospective variety of vine. The white grape variety that gives the high-quality table wine is spread from village Dzveli Anaga. Through the expedition researches, It was found out that one vine grower has found this variety in a forest and planted. Due to the influence of the nature, the Grdzelmtevana became the cultural variety of vine.

TAVKVERI

Short notes about Tavkveri is found from the second half of XIX century. According to these reports, the red grape variety of vine is spread both in Kartli and Kakheti, with the identical morphological characteristics. The difference is just the quality of the cast wine. The Kartli Tavkveri belongs to the group of the best wine make vine varieties.

TITA

The indigenous white grape variety of vine, Tita belongs to the group of a table grape variety.

Ivane Javakhishvili cites the name of origination as one of the main conditions for the aboriginality of this variety, and according to this opinion, Goruli belongs to the group of Kartli grape varieties. Solomon Cholokashvili mentions "Gldanura" as the main name in his textbook. And "Gorula" is indicated as a synonym.

KAKHURI MTSVANE

`Greenish straw colour; The taste is gentle, cheerful and harmonious; A bouquet with a strong aroma of pure varietal fruits`, - According to ampelography, the aboriginal variety, Mtsvane, is the best and most productive of the Kakhuri white varieties. People avoided its cultivation due to natsari disease as well as its sensitivity to environmental conditions. Mtsvane produces high-quality white table wine of European and Kakhuri type.
